Re: Cara Needs Support From Us! | I got an idea
R's post on Cara's situation presented all the context that's needed, so please check that out (it's not too long, don't worry) and come back.
I want to do something, and I'm sure most of you reading this do too. The issue is, odds are you're broke and don't have a large audience. Well that's okay, so am I. I feel you, and it sucks. That's why I want us bearbloggers (or anyone who reads this) to coordinate.
This is what I want us to do:
1. List artists of various mediums with large followings
We'll focus on artists with 20k minimum, but feel free to email anyone you want on your own time. Also, it's important we pick creatives who at some point expressed that they are anti-scraping.
2. Create an email that we can send to all of them
This should be laid out in a way where it's likely to be read but unlikely to get thrown in spam. We'll decide who sends to who so we don't trigger spam inboxes by sending the same message. We'll request that if they are supportive of Cara and it's efforts, that they craft a social media post to garner support for Cara. If they don't respond, it's all good! The point is to try, and I feel a LOT of artists would care about this.
3. Create a little system of follow ups so we can track the progress
If we don't do well off the bat, we can rework the idea and try again! This will be an ongoing battle for Cara, so it's worth a few tries. I have the privilege of being unemployed (lol), so I would be willing to use my free time for awhile to coordinate the bulk of this.
4. [LAST DITCH EFFORT] Work on a coordinated project to raise funds
If we try the initial outreach methods and they don't work, we could try creating something on our own. I don't know what that would be or what it would need as of now. This would be something to consider later. It requires way more effort and coordination, so it shouldn't be the first thing we do.
Please email me if you're interested in helping: leeyuhsolve@proton.me
I'll create an online group where we can communicate and work this out. Hopefully I get enough volunteers!
